About Mint Property Finance
Mint Property Finance was founded in 2011 by Andrew Lazare, starting from his garage with a target of building a £10 million loan book. The business — originally called Mint Bridging — reached that goal and kept going, eventually rebranding in 2021 to reflect a broader range of property finance products including refurbishment and development finance. Andrew's team now numbers more than 40 people, including eight dedicated underwriters across two specialist teams.
What differentiates Mint from the many lenders that issue quick decisions-in-principle is that they do the opposite: initial underwriting is done on every enquiry before any terms are issued. That means what brokers receive is a credit-backed offer, not a "DIP subject to underwriting" that could change materially once the case is reviewed. The consequence is one of the highest application-to-completion ratios in the market — a metric that brokers who have been burned by last-minute repricing understandably value.
In 2022, Aldermore Bank provided a multi-million-pound funding facility that materially increased lending capacity and signalled institutional confidence in the Mint model. The same year, Mint expanded into Scotland, broadening its geographic footprint beyond England and Wales. The business is 100% privately funded and retains the freedom to make commercial lending decisions without institutional approval chains.
